Junior I Winter Camp 2009
(For 3rd through 6th grade students)

Theme "Wake Up!!"
There are many Christian kids today that seem to be just sleepwalking through life.  They may go to church and even wear Christian T-shirts but their faith is shallow and without passion.  This weekend is all about calling them to "Wake Up".  It's about training our young people to stay awake in their faith so they can be affective tools for God in their daily lives.  Our key scripture verse for the weekend comes from the Apostle Paul...

Romans 13:11   "And to this, understanding the present time.  The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed."

Date: February 27 - March 1, 2009

Cost: $125.00  for Students  ($80 for adult leaders)

Keynote SpeakerJohn Cox

John Cox realized in the third grade that he had a passion for entertaining people and engaging their emotions, whether it was with acting, music or speaking.  In high school He received the Bank of America Drama Award for excellence in theater and after graduation he headed for Hollywood to advance his dreams.  He enrolled at Lee Strasberg Theater Institute and other professional classes for acting, music and dance. He has danced on American Bandstand, appeared in Love Boat, Charlie's Angels and several other television shows and movies.  It was while on tour with Sesame Street Live, where John played The Cookie Monster, that his desire to encourage people to seek a relationship with Jesus Christ started to be born.  John returned to school and it was while in Bible College that God gave John the vision for Over The Top

In 2007 John graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Leadership and Ministry.  During his 15 years of ministry, John has had the pleasure of serving as: Director of Children's Ministry, Youth Pastor, Church Planter, Associate Pastor, Worship Leader and Senior Pastor, so he understands ministry from many different angles.  John lives in Simi Valley, CA with his wife and three daughters and travels the country sharing the good news with kids of ALL ages!

Worship LeaderJeremy DeFriend

Jeremy is the Worship Leader at Diamond Canyon Christian Church in Diamond Bar, CA and leads Special Events in the Children’s Ministry there.  He has a real passion to lead kids in worship and firmly believes that kids are just as capable of giving true praise to God as adults are!  Jeremy made a decision for Christ while attending a camp at Angeles Crest and loves to give that opportunity to campers every time he’s up there.
